For our production of “Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder”\, it seemed fitting to partner with an organization founded in the memory of another glasses-wearing\, bold\, and inspiring young girl. Lucy Dillion was a bright and kind-hearted eight-year-old\, who tragically lost her life in 2025 with 27 other young girls during the major flooding event in Central Texas. To honor Lucy’s memory\, her family created the Bright Like Lucy Fund to make a difference by opening doors for other kids to dream big\, play hard\, and live brightly. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and introduce yourself to the stage managers. If you have a headshot and resume\, please bring it (not required). There are no audition appointments\, and actors will not need prepared monologues. The evening will cover the auditions for both shows\, beginning with the Young Audiences Production. During each show’s audition\, all actors will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a group setting with the director selecting sides and combinations of participants to read together or independently. DESCRIPTION:The play follows the escapades of two charming bachelors\, Jack and Algernon\, who lead double lives to escape their social obligations. Jack pretends to have a wicked brother named Ernest\, whose mischievous behavior provides him with an excuse to escape his country life and pursue romantic interests in London. Algernon employs a similar tactic\, creating an imaginary friend named Bunbury whose frequent illnesses allow him to escape his social commitments in London and enjoy leisurely pursuits in the country. Their intricate web of deception becomes increasingly complicated when both men fall in love. The pursuit of love and marriage leads to a series of comedic misunderstandings and absurd situations. Through clever wordplay\, satire\, and hilarious characters\, Wilde critiques the superficial values and social expectations of the Victorian upper class\, particularly their rigid adherence to societal norms and their obsession with appearance. When a real live monster actually arrives\, life is turned upside down for Evan and his family in this hilarious and heartfelt comedy. The monster\, named Pea\, immediately befriends Evan and his little sister\, Sue. Pea helps clean\, spies on the parents\, acts out stories about princesses and space aliens and even takes Evan and Sue to visit Monster World—but the children have to keep talking the monster out of eating their parents! DESCRIPTION:The scene is Hazlehurst\, Mississippi\, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch\, their grandfather\, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Lenny\, the oldest sister\, is unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg\, the middle sister\, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst\, is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast; while Babe\, the youngest\, is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. Their troubles\, grave and yet\, somehow\, hilarious\, are highlighted by their priggish cousin\, Chick\, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while helpless not to fall in love with her. DESCRIPTION:The Company OnStage is excited to announce that we are hosting auditions for “The Boy Who Loved Monsters and the Girl Who Loved Peas” by Jonathan Graham and “Crimes of the Heart” by Beth Henley. \n Auditions will take place on Sunday\, March 16th\, and Monday\, March 17th\, 2025 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at 5720 Bellaire Blvd\, Suite G\, Houston\, TX 77081. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and introduce yourself to the stage managers. If you have a headshot and resume\, please bring it (not required). When a real live monster actually arrives\, life is turned upside down for Evan and his family in this hilarious and heartfelt comedy. The monster\, named Pea\, immediately befriends Evan and his little sister\, Sue. Pea helps clean\, spies on the parents\, acts out stories about princesses and space aliens and even takes Evan and Sue to visit Monster World—but the children have to keep talking the monster out of eating their parents! When Pea hides under the table during breakfast—and steals pancakes from people’s plates—the distracted\, technology-addicted parents finally discover the monster under the table. The stories enrich the lives of Tomás’ family and instill a love of reading. This is the inspiring true story of Tomás Rivera\, who grew up in a migrant worker family\, befriended a librarian in Iowa\, and learned to love books and the places they took him. Tomás went on to a successful career in academia and became the chancellor of the University of California\, Riverside.
