AUDITIONS – “Maricela De La Luz Lights The World” and “We Only Come Out At Night”

July 19 - July 20

The Company OnStage is excited to announce that we are hosting auditions for “Maricela De La Luz Lights The World” and “We Only Come Out At Night”.

Auditions will take place on Sunday, July 19th, and Monday, July 20th, 2026, beginning at 7pm at 5720 Bellaire Blvd, Suite G, Houston, TX 77081. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and introduce yourself to the stage managers. If you have a headshot and resume, please bring it (not required). There are no audition appointments, and actors are not required to prepare a monologue. The evening will cover the auditions for both shows, beginning with the Young Audiences Production. During each show’s audition, all actors will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a group setting with the director selecting sides and combinations of participants to read together or independently. Please be prepared to move and make bold choices!

Performance Dates: Saturdays October 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2026 at 11 am and 2 pm and Sunday, October 18th, 2026 at 2 pm
Strike Date: Sunday, October 25th, 2026

CASTING REQUIREMENTS:
Total Number of Actors: 6 (3 female presenting and 3 male presenting)
Age Range: 16+
There are no roles for children under 16 in this production.
Company OnStage welcomes performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and experience levels to audition. This production includes three roles written specifically for Hispanic-identifying actors, each featuring some Spanish dialogue. Ensemble members will play multiple roles. All actors must be comfortable with physicality, limited stage combat, and be comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs. This production will not include stipends for actors.

Adriano), Frowning Face (a.k.a. Adriana), Yellow Snake, Snow People, Snow Woman / Loki (a Trickster God), and Hunahpu (a Mayan Sun God)

SYNOPSIS:
Maricela and her younger sibling are out Christmas shopping when the weather takes an odd turn and all the people in the city disappear. Through a series of encounters with a moon god, a cyclops, Hercules, and a seven headed hydra, among other fantastic and mythical characters, they learn the importance of standing up for good and being the hero of your own story.

Performance Dates: Fridays and Saturdays, October 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th 2026 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, October 11th, 2026, at 2:00 pm
Strike Date: Sunday, October 25th, 2026

Total Number of Actors: 5 (1 female presenting and 4 male presenting)
Age range: 21 to 35
There are no roles for children in this production.

Spencer: male presenting, 20’s, college student, level-headed but naive
Elijah: male presenting, 20’s, college student, drunk, Spanish presenting with minimal Spanish dialogue

SYNOPSIS:
We Only Come Out at Night is a world-premiere play by local playwright Austin Brady that follows Elizabeth and Benji, co-owners of a Houston bar. When a chance encounter with three unsuspecting bar patrons reveals Elizabeth’s supernatural secret, this laugh-out-loud thriller transforms into a surprisingly heartfelt exploration of loneliness, loyalty, and making the best of what life gives you.”
