AUDITIONS – “The Velveteen Rabbit” and “Little Women”

The Company OnStage is excited to announce that we are hosting auditions for The Velveteen Rabbit by Thomas W. Olson, and Little Women by Heather Chrisler.

Auditions will take place on Sunday, September 13th, and Monday, September 14th, 2026, beginning at 7pm at 5720 Bellaire Blvd, Suite G, Houston, TX 77081. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and introduce yourself to the stage managers and directors. If you have a headshot and resume, please bring them (not required). There are no audition appointments, and actors will not need prepared monologues. The evening will cover the auditions for both shows, beginning with the Young Audiences Production. During each show’s audition, all actors will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a group setting with the director selecting sides and combinations of participants to read together or independently. Please be prepared to move and make bold choices!

CASTING REQUIREMENTS:
Total Number of Actors: 8 actors (2+ female presenting)
Age Range: 10+
There are no roles for children under 10 in this production.
Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and experience levels are welcome to audition.

Filled with humor, imagination, and touching moments, this enchanting play celebrates friendship, hope, and the enduring bonds that make us who we are. A treasured story for generations, The Velveteen Rabbit is a delightful theatrical experience that will warm the hearts of audiences of all ages.

With balloons, hula hoops, ribbons, and boundless creativity, they bring the March sisters’ unforgettable journey to the stage. Follow Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy as they navigate love, loss, laughter, and the challenges of growing up. Through storytelling, games, and heartfelt moments, Jo pursues her dream of becoming a writer while the sisters find strength, hope, and joy in one another. Filled with warmth, imagination, and the enduring spirit of family, this inventive adaptation of Little Women is a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the stories that shape us.

Actors interested in auditioning for Little Women may choose to submit a video audition or attend in-person auditions. Please review the two options below and select the audition method that works best for you:

1) Submit a video audition by completing a Video Audition Submission Form. Actors submitting a video audition should select one of the following monologues from the show to perform. Each video submission must begin with a brief slate that includes the actor’s first and last name and the role they have chosen to read for. Video submissions must be provided as a YouTube or Google Drive link. Please ensure that the link does not require requesting additional permissions to view.

2) Attend one or both nights of in-person auditions. Actors who plan to audition in person do not need to complete the video audition submission form, as a printed audition form will be provided upon arrival. In-person auditions for Little Women will consist of cold readings of monologues and scenes from the script, which will be filmed for director consideration.
