AUDITIONS – “Kid Frankenstein” and “Blithe Spirit”
July 20 - July 21

The Company OnStage is excited to announce that we are hosting auditions for “Kid Frankenstein” and “Blithe Spirit”.
Auditions will take place on Sunday, July 20th, and Monday, July 21st, 2025, beginning at 7pm at 5720 Bellaire Blvd, Suite G, Houston, TX 77081. We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and introduce yourself to the stage managers. If you have a headshot and resume, please bring it (not required). There are no audition appointments, and actors are not required to prepare a monologue. The evening will cover the auditions for both shows, beginning with the Young Audiences Production. During each show’s audition, all actors will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a group setting with the director selecting sides and combinations of participants to read together or independently. Please be prepared to move and make bold choices!

A smash comedy hit in London and New York, this much-revived classic from the playwright of Private Lives concerns fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine, who has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira. Clever, insistent and well aware of Charles’ shortcomings, Elvira is called up by a visiting “happy medium,” the eccentric and flighty Madame Arcati. As everyone’s personalities clash, Charles’ current wife, Ruth, is accidentally killed. She “passes over” and joins Elvira, allowing the two “blithe spirits” to haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.
AUDITIONS FOR THIS PRODUCTION WILL CONSIST OF COLD READINGS FROM THE SCRIPT. THE DIRECTOR IS REQUESTING POSH BRITISH ACCENTS (THINK BBC-STYLE) FOR ALL ROLES, AND THOSE INTERESTED IN MADAME ARCATI SHOULD ALSO PREPARE AN ITALIAN ACCENT OPTION. ALL AUDITIONING ACTORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PRESENT A ONE-MINUTE MONOLOGUE, DRAMATIC OR COMEDIC, TO SHOWCASE THEIR RANGE AND SKILL.
