Open Call for “Too Much Light Makes Baby Go Blind”

May 28 - June 19

Company OnStage is seeking directors, actors, and production assistants to support our upcoming summer fundraiser production of Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind by Greg Allen.

Opening in 1988 and still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago history, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind is an ensemble experiment in presenting “30 Plays in 60 Minutes.”

5 directors will work with a group of 3-5 actors each on 6 total 1-2 minutes scenes. Each group will be allotted two rehearsals between July 5-16. All directors and actors will also attend a group technical rehearsal and final dress on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22. Directors are also expected to attend a production meeting on Sunday, June 28.

Performances will be held at 8pm on July 23, 24, and 25.

Once you have submitted your interest, the show’s production coordinator will reach out to assign your production role and group based on your availability. No auditions are necessary for actors. Directors and actors with improv or comedy experience are encouraged to apply! Please note all roles are volunteer roles.

The deadline to submit your interest is June 19th.
