Interview with Patrick Thornton, Director of “Cinderella Goes Disco” 2023

Before performances began for “Cinderella Goes Disco”, we checked in with the Director, Patrick Thornton, to ask him about the show.

Question 1: Why did you want to direct this show?

I wanted to be a part of the reemergence of COS and put on a show that reminds children of all ages why we love theater.

Question 2: How would you describe your vision for this production?

I can summarize my vision in three words: Energy. Fun. Music.

Question 3: How has the rehearsal process been for this show? What has been exciting? What has been challenging?

The process has been one of the smoothest in memory. The cast has been on top of everything and ready to explore their creative sides. Our only real challenge was finding a place to rehearse, and that was resolved by the good people at Corpus Christi Catholic School.

Question 4: What has been your favorite moment so far?

I can’t answer this question without spoiling the show, so you will have to wait and see!

Question 5: What should the audience be excited about seeing or experiencing at your show?

Finding themselves or their loved ones on stage being a part of the show.

Bonus Question: Who in the show is the most like their character? Who’s the least?

Who is like their character? ALL of them!

Karelia (Cinderella) – Creative, innocent, curious, diverse.

Matthew (Beast/Prince) – Boisterous, energetic, in need of friends (lol), sweet and kind under the gruff.

Mary Ann (Glumora/Mother) – Experienced, wise, puts others before self.

Stefani (Persephone) – Ready to help others, charismatic, magic.
