Interview with the Director of “’Twas The Night Before Christmas,” Jennifer Brown

After the opening of Ken Ludwig’s “’Twas The Night Before Christmas,” we checked in with Director Jennifer Brown, to ask about the show.

Question 1: Why did you want to direct this show?

This show has such a fun whimsy at its heart that really allows each actor to shine and show their Christmas Spirit.

Question 2: How would you describe your vision for this production?

My vision for this production was rooted in the joyful Christmas stories that we all know and cherish.

Question 3: How has the rehearsal process been for this show? What has been exciting? What has been challenging?

The rehearsal process has been a joy. Every rehearsal has been full of laughter. The most exciting part of this process has been watching each actor really take ownership, pride, and joy in the character they created. The most challenging part has been the music!

Question 4: What has been your favorite moment so far?

My favorite moment has always been watching the children and the adults in the audience enjoy themselves. Hearing the young and adult laughter is the best!

Question 5: What should the audience be excited about seeing or experiencing at your show?

Letting the world fall away and feeling the joy in the holiday season.

Bonus Question: Who in the show is most like their character? Who’s the least?

Erika playing Calliope has such a love for Christmas and the holiday season that her character is fighting to maintain. They both LOVE the holiday season. The most unlike their character would be Dan playing Sir Guy. Sir Guy is out to ruin Christmas, which is completely at odds with Dan. Dan loves to bring the energy and joy, while Sir Guy… not so much.
