Before the opening performance of “The Stranger” by Agatha Christie, we checked in with the Director, Shelia Emery, to ask her about the show.
Question 1: Why did you want to direct this show?
It was an opportunity to get back to doing something that I love to do. When COS offered an opportunity for me to direct again, I admit I had been wanting to get back into theatre since I had retired and now had some time to fill so it was just perfect timing.
Question 2: How would you describe your vision for this production?
I love a good murder mystery and Agatha Christie never disappoints. I love to build the moments and the deceptions that add to a good murder mystery and keep people on the edge of their seats.
Question 3: How has the rehearsal process been for this show? What has been exciting? What has been challenging?
The rehearsal process has been great. I have experienced the same with COS in the past. No concerns. The cast has been exciting. I was very lucky to get the cast I have. There was some challenge in getting to the creation of the set but it all worked out and I am very grateful for the result. I am very happy with the success of the show.
Question 4: What has been your favorite moment so far?
My favorite moment is watching the audience every night as they watch the show. The cast has a great rapport and really engages the audience even when the audience is small. This is the greatest reward to me is for them to get the best response for all of the hard work they have put into the show along with the fabulous tech and stage management.
Question 5: What should the audience be excited about seeing or experiencing at your show?
The conclusion really makes the show a special Agatha Christie.
